Why stories: Why does an elephant have a long trunk?

Once upon a time elephants did not have trunks; they had no trunks and they couldn't have the fruits from the
tree. So they had to eat whatever they could from the ground which the monkeys threw for them. One day an elephant was gulping water from his mouth when suddenly SNAP! a crocodile bit his nose.

HELP! shouted the elephant. The animals heard it and rushed to help.

They pulled and pulled and pulled and.................

and a long nose came out and the long nose is called the trunk.

  3. I'm glad you posted this, Advait! It's one of Rudyard Kipling's "Just So Stories", which I really love! This one was originally called The Elephant's Child. Have a read of it - Rudyard Kipling had a very unusual way of writing.
